About Me - The Backpacker's Journey
Hello and Welcome!

Hey there, fellow adventurers and gear enthusiasts! I’m Alexander Schijf, the face and voice behind this blog, where backpacking and gear aren’t just topics – they’re a way of life.

The Journey Begins:

Embarking on a journey that mirrors the spirit of ‘Into the Wild’, I chose the nickname Alex Supertramp, inspired by the movie’s protagonist, Alexander Supertramp. This name is more than just a pseudonym; it’s a symbol of my quest for freedom, an echo of the adventurous soul portrayed in the film. Just like Alexander Supertramp, my life has been a pursuit of liberation from conventional constraints, seeking meaning in the wild expanses of nature and the depths of personal experience. This nickname encapsulates my philosophy of life: a relentless journey towards self-discovery, independence, and the unbridled joy of living on my own terms.

My love affair with backpacking started in the stunning landscapes of North Sweden. This wasn’t just a weekend hobby; it was my life. Summer days were filled with endless daylight, exploring untouched wilderness, and learning the language of the great outdoors. But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows – I also endured the bone-chilling -30°C winters. Trust me, nothing tests your gear like a Scandinavian winter!

After countless trials, errors, and frozen toes, I realized something important – the right gear can make or break your outdoor experience. That’s why I started this blog. I wanted to share my hard-earned knowledge with you, so you can enjoy the great outdoors without learning things the hard way (like I did).
